  • Highly biocompatible, gums attach well, low plaque accumulation.

Possible drawbacks:

  • shorter long-term documentation than titanium (fewer decades of data),
  • often one-piece — less flexible for complex prosthetics and angle correction,
  • greater material brittleness (fracture risk was historically a concern; modern zirconia is much improved),
  • usually more expensive.
